The Last Chance Band

John Jessup (guitar and vocals)

Lived his early years in a sod house on a homestead on the high plains of the Nebraska Panhandle. In college he found radio and spent nearly six decades performing in radio, television, commercials, corporate communications, sketch comedy and audio book narration. Since first visiting San Miguel de Allende in 2017, his focus has been on making music.

Rob Ramsey (guitar, banjo, and vocals)

Native Texan, now living in San Miguel de Allende. He is a past Billboard Top 100 Country songwriter, a grand prize winner of the American Song Festival Lyric Competition, a top-ten finalist in the UK Songwriting Competition, and a semi-finalist in the International Songwriting Competition.

Tom Driscoll (guitar and vocals)

Like so many in his generation, he started playing guitar in the early 1960s, inspired by the folk revival and the British invasion. After playing in bands while in high school and college, he spent thirty years teaching high school English in Northport, New York, though he continued to maintain his interest in music. Since retiring he has returned to performing and songwriting playing solo and with various groups here in San Miguel.

Nick Schafer (fiddle)

With over 20 years of playing violin under his belt, Nick moved to Nashville to attend Belmont University and pursue a career in music. Over the course of 12 years, he freelanced everywhere he could, playing in country and rock bands, recording for dozens of artists (including on a #1 country album), performing twice on national television, and playing at hundreds of weddings and events. After living in Massachusetts for two years, he has been living in San Miguel de Allende since early 2025 and has been performing and recording with a variety of artists in town.

Stephen Russell (guitar and vocals)

Stephen Russell is a book buyer, actor, songwriter and enthusiastic Biblioteca volunteer.  He spends the better part of each year at his home on Cape Cod and the best part of each year here in San Miguel.

Jim Douglas (bass)

After a 40-year break from playing, Jim got back into playing bass guitar as he was moving to San Miguel from Mendocino, CA in 2018. He designed and built the fretless bass he loves to play, whether it is jug band, country/folk, or rock styles.
